Dussehra Celebration at Sanskar Global School, Pratapgarh

Introduction

India is a land of festivals where each celebration is not just about traditions but also about values, lessons, and cultural bonding. Among these festivals, Dussehra holds a very special place. Celebrated with immense enthusiasm across the country, Dussehra marks the victory of good over evil, truth over lies, and righteousness over arrogance.

At Sanskar Global School, Pratapgarh, we believe festivals are not just occasions of joy, but also great opportunities to impart values to our students. This year too, our campus witnessed a vibrant and meaningful celebration of Dussehra, where students participated in cultural programs, skits, speeches, and creative activities.

Why We Celebrate Dussehra

The festival of Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, is celebrated on the tenth day of the Navratri festival. It signifies two great events in Indian history and mythology:

  1. Victory of Lord Rama over Ravana – According to the epic Ramayana, Lord Rama killed Ravana, the demon king of Lanka, on this day. Ravana symbolized arrogance, ego, and evil. His defeat symbolizes that however strong evil may seem, truth and goodness will always triumph in the end.
  2. Victory of Goddess Durga over Mahishasura – In another legend, Goddess Durga killed the demon Mahishasura after a nine-day-long battle. This symbolizes the power of feminine strength and divine energy to protect righteousness.

Thus, Dussehra is not just about celebrating mythological events but also about reminding ourselves that evil—whether in the form of anger, greed, pride, or injustice—can be defeated through courage, truth, and perseverance.

What We Learn from Dussehra

Dussehra is not just a festival; it is a lesson for life. For students, it carries important messages that can shape their character:

  1. Truth Always Wins – Even when lies seem powerful, in the end, honesty and truth prevail.
  2. Ego is Destructive – Ravana’s downfall was caused by his pride. Students must learn the importance of humility.
  3. Courage is Key – Like Lord Rama and Goddess Durga, we must face challenges with determination.
  4. Respect for Values – Dussehra teaches us to uphold moral values, discipline, and kindness.
  5. Teamwork and Unity – Just as Rama did not fight Ravana alone but with the help of Hanuman and others, we too should understand the power of teamwork in school and life.

At Sanskar Global School, festivals are celebrated with a vision of blending cultural heritage with modern education. This year, the Dussehra celebration was filled with activities that engaged students, teachers, and parents:

Cultural Programs – Students performed dances and songs dedicated to Lord Rama and Goddess Durga, spreading festive joy.
Ramleela Skit – Our young talents enacted scenes from the Ramayana, bringing alive the story of Lord Rama and Ravana.
Art & Craft Exhibition – Creative posters, Ravana masks, and paintings made by students showcased their imagination and skills.
Debates & Speeches – Senior students delivered inspiring speeches on the relevance of Dussehra in today’s world.
Message Wall Activity – A special board was placed where students wrote “One Evil I Will Overcome” (like anger, laziness, dishonesty), motivating everyone to reflect on self-improvement.

These activities not only spread awareness but also made students realize that celebrations are more meaningful when they include learning and values.

A Punch Line from Sanskar Global School

🌟 “At Sanskar Global School, we don’t just celebrate festivals—we celebrate values that guide our students towards a brighter future.” 🌟

The Deeper Meaning of Dussehra for Students

In today’s competitive and technology-driven world, students face their own set of “Ravanas”—distractions, stress, peer pressure, misuse of gadgets, and sometimes self-doubt. Dussehra teaches them to:

  • Conquer these inner demons with self-control and positivity.
  • Focus on discipline and determination.
  • Strive to become not just academically strong but also morally responsible citizens.

Message from the School to Students

Dear Students,

On this Dussehra, remember that every challenge is an opportunity to rise higher. Just as Lord Rama overcame Ravana, you too can overcome every difficulty with patience, courage, and wisdom. Focus on your studies, respect your teachers and parents, and nurture kindness in your hearts.

Always remember:
🌱 “Your character is your greatest strength, and truth is your greatest weapon.” 🌱

Let’s make a promise this Dussehra to remove negativity from our minds and fill our hearts with knowledge, positivity, and compassion.

Conclusion

The celebration of Dussehra at Sanskar Global School, Pratapgarh, was not only about rituals and performances but also about learning values for life. Festivals like these remind us of our cultural roots and inspire us to walk the path of righteousness.

As educators, it is our responsibility to ensure that students don’t just study subjects, but also imbibe virtues like truth, courage, humility, and unity. This is what makes education complete.

So, as we bid farewell to another beautiful Dussehra celebration, let us all take with us one strong message:
🌟 “Defeat the Ravana within, and the world outside will shine brighter.” 🌟
